Who are knowledge and Information Vulnerable Groups?

  • The term refers to ‘a group of people that has limitations in accessing libraries due to physical, cultural, economic, and social conditions, or a group of people that shows differences in opportunities and abilities to access, accept, and utilize knowledge and information.’ The categories of vulnerable groups for this business are as follows.

Physically Vulnerable Caused by weakening of the body, such as disability, aging, etc.
Culturally Vulnerable Caused by language and cultural diversity such as in foreigners and multicultural families
Economically Vulnerable Caused by income gaps, unemployment, etc.
Socially Vulnerable Caused by the combination of social stereotypes and economic vulnerability, such as single-parent families and out-of-school youth
